Working for walkers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019re Britain\u2019s walking charity, working to safeguard the footpaths, the countryside and other places we go walking, and to encourage more people to take up walking.

With over 100,000 members in England, Scotland and Wales, we\u2019ve been working for walkers since 1935. We want walking to be an enjoyable experience for all, whether in the countryside or in the city, on gentle paths or challenging hillsides.

We believe that walking contributes to health and wellbeing and supports a more sustainable way of life. We\u2019re dedicated to working both for better quality walking environments and to making walking more accessible to all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike some other local internet-based walking groups, CWW is not run to make money for its organisers. Our walk leaders are all unpaid volunteers who want to share their love of the countryside and give something back to the group. As part of the Ramblers we work to protect our rights of way in Bucks, with a particular focus on the path network in Lacey Green parish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join CWW in three easy steps<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  • Join the Ramblers via the national website<\/strong><\/a>, <\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Select Bucks, Milton Keynes and West Middlesex<\/strong> as your area,  <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Choose Chilterns Weekend Walkers<\/strong> as your primary group. (If you don’t do this, you’ll be assigned to your local geographic group.)  <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    As a CWW member you\u2019ll get access to the more detailed version of our calendar.  In addition to our walks, it includes details of socials and weekends away which often fill up quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    If you\u2019re coming on your first walk, note that unless it says otherwise in the description there’s no need to book or contact the leader in advance.  Just turn up in good time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Transferring to CWW from another Ramblers group<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    If you\u2019re already a Ramblers member and would like to make Chilterns Weekend Walkers your home group, it’s easy to switch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Sign in on the Ramblers website<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Scroll to ‘Manage your groups’ and select My groups<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Beneath the details of your group, select Change Ramblers group<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • From ‘Select a Ramblers area’ choose Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and West Middlesex<\/strong> <\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • From ‘Select a Ramblers group’ choose Chilterns Weekend Walkers<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Hit confirm selection<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      You\u2019ll still be free to walk with all other Ramblers groups across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      CWW weekly email <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Even if you\u2019re not yet a Ramblers member or you\u2019re in another Ramblers group, you can sign up below to receive our CWW weekly email which gives details of our upcoming walks and other group news.  Non-members can stay on the mailing list for six months. You can, of course, also find out about the walks on the Ramblers walk finder<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

      You can also follow us on Facebook<\/a> – but note that walk listings don’t appear on Facebook and following our group doesn’t make you a member of CWW or Ramblers.<\/p>\n\n\n
