Lead a walk

Lead a walk

Please give something back to the group by leading a walk or organising a social.   Here’s how to get it on the CWW calendar.

  • Check the calendar to find a suitable date, noting what else is happening on adjacent dates.
  • Fill out the online Lead a Walk form. Or why not have a go at putting your walk directly onto the Ramblers Walks Manager? For help, read this comprehensive guide or email leadawalk@chilternsww.co.uk.
  • If you need more time to finalise the details, send an email to reserve a slot so the basic details can be added to the calendar with ‘Details to follow’.  Mention the date, location, approximate distance and start time.
  • Do a recce.
  • Read one of these generic risk assessments for your grade of walk:  easy, leisurely / moderate, strenuous / technical.   We no longer need to fill out a form and keep it for three years, but please make a personal note of any risks particular to your walk, and also make sure to read the section on red kites.
  • If you’re planning to lead a walk for the first time, you’ll need to be registered as a volunteer so you can complete the Ramblers online training. To get started, please email leadawalk@chilternsww.co.uk.
